A brilliant blue diamond has set the new world record for the most expensive diamond ever sold per carat.
It was part of a ring designed by Italian designers, Bvlgari.
It was sold at an auction in Bonham’s in London.
Bonham’s have apparently said that in addition those that were at the room at the time of the auction, bids were also being made by 25 different telephone lines across the entire planet.
The 5.3o carat diamond sold for a record $9.5 million and is per carat the most expensive diamond ever to be sold working out at $1.8 million per carat.
The purchasers were Graff Diamonds based in London.
