People who meet me say that I come across as very straight forward at times. I also believe in mentioning those people who helped me and giving them credit. I do not believe that it detracts from anyone’s own status if they say that what they have achieved has partly been due to others. Today I want to speak about, my favourite non-literary writer, and one of my favourite books of all time. So who is this writer than? Is he American, British, Canadian? No he comes from the other side of the world in what we here in Britain call “down under”, he comes from Australia.
The Australian flag.
He is one other than Australia’s Andrew Matthews. Andrew Matthews is a cartoonist but also a write who has written various works on giving advice to people. I have never met him, never spoken to him (either in real life or online) or met anyone who knew him, however I have read just one of his books, which is title “Follow your Heart.”
I was recommended to read it by one of my former mentors, whom I still keep in touch with, Anthony Charles (whom you can read a little bit more about here). I don’t know how Anthony realized it was such a great book, but more than any other book of this type that I’ve ever read this made a huge difference to me. My friends even said that they realized a change in the tone and nature of my voice subsequently, as I seemed more grounded, at peace with myself and calmer. It has had a positive effect on the way I deal with people, work relations, general dealings, the way I see things and in many other ways.
The book is easy reading and not very hard and complex, which I think is definitely a virtue. If you can address some fundamentally life-changing issues but in a soft, as opposed to intense and overserious, manner than more people will be able to read it.
So thank you Andrew Matthews. You are a fantastic writer!
